rammed earth warehouse

I found this really interesting project about building a warehouse
with rammed earth domes, it so different to what we are exposed
to here in ausralia.
Here is the progress of how it got built from page one to four

This a ceiling joint taken on the ground level as you walk in.
It was really helpfull to go on this site because it helped me gain an idea of what it is like in reality! So here are a few images collected from it.

Now this section has nothing to
do with the required blog entry, this is just some
additional pics that i like of some buildings!

One of Melbourne uni's old buildings...
I love this ...

crazy stuff

- A basic portal frame,

- Rigid apex with steel bracing

- Apex joints

Task:

For this task we had to Visit an existing commercial, industrial
or educational building that you think is an example of excellence
in construction technology in timber, steel or concrete. Take at least
3 digital photos of the building; one of which is the overall building,
the second of an interesting element of the building (approx. 3x3m in area),
then a third photo of an exemplary detail of the building (approx. 1x1m)

Site chosen: Bunnings warehouse...
Location: murry rd near northland shopping centre....
Architect: not sure...
other info: I chose to go with something simple, plain and easy to find.
I had some problems taking photos because apparently i needed a written permission to take photos but managed to sneak in a few photos!

So here are a few of the shots i managed to take....Enjoy!!

This is just a view of the interior, we can
see the roofing interior very well, showing
the steel and insulation very clearly.

Now this is a close up detail of the
connection of a steel column
bolted to the wall and roof area.As we can
see here it's a rigid connection in which the
steel rafter is welded to the steel plate and
bolted onto the column.

This picture shows more the insulated
roof area and wall and thought it was
very interesting therefor though i should
share!

Last but not least is this picture of the
steel sheets which covers the exterior
of this building also .
